Fall ASSAI Registration Information

ASSAI, the After School Sport and Arts Initiative, provides fun, safe, accessible and high-quality after school programming to BC children in Kindergarten to Grade 8.

The BC Government provides our school with annual grant funding so that ASSAI programs are free and accessible to all students. The programs are designed to reduce barriers to participation that children may face including financial, social, cultural, behavioural, geographical, and other barriers.

ASSAI promotes positive connections within the school community, building upon what is going on during the school day. Children connect to caring adults who create a safe and fun environment for them to overcome anxieties and try new experiences. At the same time, children make friends in different grades and learn new skills. All of this develops their confidence and helps them enjoy school more, from the classroom to the playground.

The ASSAI program is only open to James Bay Elementary School students. Different programs are offered in the Fall, Winter and Spring.  A form will become available on our website when registration is open. After submitting the form, you will receive an email from the Recreation Program Coordinator confirming if your child has a spot.

Note: This fall, all James Bay Elementary School Students can participate – including those in the OSC After School Program. Please note that this is a trial.

If you would like more information on the program or have questions, please contact our Recreation Program Coordinator programs@jamesbaycentre.ca or by phone at 250-389-1470
