James Bay Community Preschool
Our Preschool is a 10 month preschool program for children aged 3-5. Our staff provide a play based program that is engaging, educational, and fun. Preschool staff plan and facilitate learning opportunities based on the interests and experiences of the children using an Emergent Curriculum approach. Our outdoor spaces and easy access to local parks and beaches give children ample opportunity to engage with our natural environment.
Please note, children must be 3 or older and toilet trained on their first day of Preschool.
Preschool is closed on Stat Holidays and any SD61 school closures (Pro D Days, Winter/Spring/Summer Breaks).

We will be an unlicensed program for the 2020/2021 school year. This means you will be unable to apply for Government subsidy for this program. You are encouraged to please fill out an application for financial support through our new Legacy Fund. Please do not hesitate to fill out this form or talk to a coordinator about your financial options- we want this program to be accessible to all families in our community.
Although the term ‘Unlicensed’ can sound a little daunting, we are still running our Preschool to the same standard as a licensed childcare program. We chose to make our Preschool Program unlicensed in order to have our teacher’s qualifications rely on more than just and ECE or ECE-A Certificate. There has been a shortage of ECE/ECE-A qualified candidates in the past years and so we wanted to ensure our Preschool can run smoothly and consistently for all of the families in our community for years to come.
We are open to and encourage having Parent helpers and Volunteers in our program. Please contact the Early Childhood Coordinator for more information!
Please see our Childcare Handbook for our all of our Childcare policies.
After pressing the ‘Submit’ button below, your information has been automatically added to our Childcare Waitlist. We will contact you once a space has become available.
